Getting Burned on the North Shore

We finally spent our first whole day at the beach. For the past week the only time we spent on the beach was after long stressful days of apartment hunting. Today was different, we planned it from the day before, and ran all errands that we could think we needed to get done. So we packed up a small cooler with food and lots of water, strapped it to the back of the Harley along with our snorkeling gear and a couple of towels, and headed out to the North Shore. Oh yeah, did I mention I picked up my Harley yesterday from the docks!!! It was about a 45 min trip and it was gorgeous scenery and of course perfect weather. We picked a nice beach that had some clear blue water. It was quite the hotspot because there was NO parking anywhere. Luckily we were on a motorcycle, we just slipped in between a couple of cars. Once we got to the beach we snorkeled around some big rocks out underwater, there a few schools of fish and an eel or a snake or something. It was fun but nothing too spectacular. After that we went cliffdiving, and then laid out for a while. Did i mention we got there at like 1030 am?? Anyways we decided to pack up and head down the road to find some better snorkeling spots. The next beach we went to had alot more fish but it wasn't as clear because of the surf. It was still pretty good, but as we are swimming around we see people gathering and pointing at something in the water so we swim over to check it out. Giant green sea turtles eating algae right off the beach. A lady on the beach asked us to get a picture with her waterproof camera, so we swam out and were face to face with these turtles taking pictures of them underwater. I WISH we had our waterproof camera case with us!!! But it's being shipped here right now. After all that excitement we got on the bike to head to another beach when we realized it was about 330 pm and we were both sun burned. So instead we headed back home.

Also Rachel was giving me a haircut as she normally does, but this time she "slipped". The mohawk will be returning shortly. -:)

Week 1 whole lotta fun

Here it is!!! Our first Blog post. First things first, our first week in Oahu. We spent our first 6 nights here in a not very cheap hotel called the Maile Sky Court Hotel. Luckily we only had a rental car for the first 2 days until Rachel bought a green 2007 jeep wrangler. After the first hour of having the jeep, the top was down and the doors were off. Finding an apartment was an absolute PAIN IN THE BUTT!! We were looking for an apartment that is pet friendly and furnished. These two criteria are apparently the two hardest things to find on Oahu, especially together. To make a long and painful story short, after lots of driving and even more stress we found a place we love. It has everything we were looking for from the word go. It has a yard, somewhere to garden, a place to grill, lots of space, good location, and we did't have to ship cloye back. haha Sorry Mary Ann. :)

Launch of our BLOG!!!

As you know, Rachel and I have been trying everything to keep our friends and family updated with our new lives in Hawaii. This is just another attempt at that. Now keep in mind this is an experiment. In order for this to work Rachel and I will need to actually keep this page updated. I have been using pictures and videos to tell our story, but editing the videos and pictures was just taking too much time and effort. So here we will tell the story by blog and include simple pics and raw footage videos to make it easier on us, while at the same time accomplishing our goal. We hope you all love it.
